Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann are reportedly the leading contenders to take charge of Man United, although the club's hierarchy remains divided over who should get the job.
United's head of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, is understood to have been pushing for Nagelsmann since June, having opposed the decision to hand Michael Carrick the role on a permanent basis.
Vivell knows the German coach well from their time together at RB Leipzig and is believed to favour a reunion at Old Trafford.
However, United's director of football, Jason Wilcox, reportedly favours a manager with proven Premier League experience, with Howe emerging as his preferred candidate.
