John Fury has revealed his doubts over the long-awaited showdown between his son, Tyson, and Anthony Joshua in a damning interview.
Following years of promises to British boxing fans, Joshua and Fury will finally settle their rivalry in Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Friday, December 11.
The fight comes following Fury's latest comeback, having retired for the fifth time last year, a decision that his dad, John, has been vocal against, revealing that he hopes the Joshua fight never goes ahead.
Ahead of Fury's comeback to fight Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11, John made it clear that he didn't want Tyson to return to the ring given his age and the dangers that come with boxing.
Despite this, Tyson went ahead with his boxing comeback, a decision which John later said "completely destroyed" their relationship.
And although the pair have appeared in public together since, it appears things still aren't back to 100% between Tyson and John, who has spoken out to slam the Joshua fight.
"I hope it never happens," John said of the fight in the upcoming BBC series Rivals.
Although many would assume his reason is simply looking out for his son, John went on to express concern for Joshua too, explaining that whatever happens in the bout, the loser won't deserve the fallout,
He added: "They'll get that much stick, the loser, they won't be able to cope with it. Even though these two guys are not at their best they've still got a lot of power and they could still hurt each other, you know.
"And you just don't want to see either man walk around after being greats [for people] to laugh at, really."
As John said, for many fans, the Joshua v Fury fight feels like a last resort for both men to throw themselves back into the heavyweight title picture, which remains wide open following Oleksandr Usyk's decision to return to cruiserweight.
A spectacular win in December could set up a blockbuster bout with one of the three current heavyweight champions, those being Daniel Dubois (WBO), Filip Hrgovic (IBF) and Agit Kabayel (WBC).
Unfortunately for Tyson, should he secure one of the biggest wins of his career and set up another chance to become champion, it appears he will have to do so without his dad beside him.
That's because, in protest to the fight happening, John has revealed that he will not be watching in Cardiff.
Speaking to Playbook Boxing, he revealed: "I'll be honest with you, no. I won't be attending.
"Let me tell you, you have more chance of seeing a cow fly than me bothering with it. I don't like the people in it, and I know accidents can happen. I'm not involved, so I don't want to go to the fight.
"I'll be doing what his mother does. I'll wait for somebody to tell me who wins the fight. I don't need validation to go to a boxing match and sit there and be an absolute spare p**** at the wedding."
