Nottingham Forest loanee Omari Hutchinson scored for AC Milan over the weekend, sparking a debate over whether he should be back at the City Ground instead.
It was a slow start on loan at AC Milan for young Omari Hutchinson as he had to earn the trust of Ruben Amorim, but he got off the mark with a goal against Udinese at the weekend. The aftermath of this saw questions over Forest letting Hutchinson go in the first place when Oliver Glasner’s side are struggling for goals.
Nottingham Forest loan manager Owen Coyle has suggested Hutchinson could return from his loan early if he wasn’t getting the game time. This could all change after his goal for the side, but it hasn’t stopped Forest fans on TalkingPoints from stating a desire to see him return.

Should we have kept Omari Hutchinson? How good would he be to have on the bench this season?
Forest fans were asked if Hutchinson should have been retained, and the response was unanimous in favour of the idea. User @christianthackham pointed out that Hutchinson “was a menace for opposition teams last year” and urged Glasner to “Bring him home”.

Another supporter, @stevioo1985, added that he agreed Forest should take Hutchinson back from loan. He explained why, saying, “He is willing to run at the defence and get crosses in for Delap.”
This would answer another problem Forest have had, which is a lack of service to Liam Delap, with few clear-cut chances falling the way of the club’s record signing. Glenn Murray has been frustrated by Delap, but he also needs support with attacking teammates who will create big chances for him.

The idea that Hutchinson’s return would be good news for Delap was also shared by user @jumpjet2510, who added he wanted the loanee back “so someone could whip balls in for Delap!!”
Hutchinson has been brilliant in his last two starts for Milan, with an assist against Salzburg, followed by his goal. It’s safe to say he has found his feet, and this should delight and pain Forest because he should be doing it at the City Ground.

Hutchinson is a superb talent, and it feels like a waste that he’s playing elsewhere when Forest needs more attacking quality, depth, creativity, and a bit of magic, all of which he brings and is doing in a similar system to Glasner’s.
Shining in a system that resembles Glasner’s is great news for Hutchinson and Forest, as it shows exactly the roles he can play upon returning.
A final fan on TalkingPoints, @flow77craig, wrote that he’s seen Hutchinson as a wing-back, which is potentially another role he could offer Glasner.

100% I have noticed Milan playing him at wingback which is out of position, hes at a time where he needs to be around our first team, hes an impact player, as back up we only have CHO off bench with similar attributes, if injury stack up we may rue this decision

Hutchinson can be a very versatile option for Glasner in the attacking midfield or wing-back position, as he has qualities that suit both, and Forest needs further options in both as well.
Instead of buying an alternative in January, recall Hutchinson and help him realise his potential.
