West Ham United host potential promotion rivals Southampton at the London Stadium at 3 pm on Saturday, as Football League World takes a closer look at team news ahead of this important fixture.

West Ham will be looking to keep their Championship automatic promotion push at full throttle when they host Southampton at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon, as Nuno Espírito Santo's side aim to make it three wins on the spin.

The Hammers blew nine-man Lincoln City away with a 6-0 away victory at Cincil Bank last week, and followed that up by grinding out what could be a crucial 1-0 victory away to table-topping Swansea City last weekend, and now face another difficult task in the form of Tonda Eckert's Southampton side.

The Saints have lost just one of their last nine league games, and having kept three clean sheets on the spin, will face an uphill task to maintain that record on Saturday when they face a West Ham attack firing on all cylinders.

This could prove to be a crucial clash come the end of the season, as Football League World takes a look at each player set to miss this one.

Keiber Lamadrid

The only notable injury from the West Ham camp is Venezuelan winger Keiber Lamadrid, with the 22-year-old having suffered a knee problem in the Hammers' 2-1 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the start of September.

No timescale has been revealed as to when the winger will be due back to action, though with Jarrod Bowen, Edvin Austbo, and Manor Solomon as options out wide, Nuno still has strength and depth in that area of the pitch.

Flynn Downes

Boyhood West Ham supporter Flynn Downes is a doubt to face the club he grew up supporting on Saturday after suffering an ankle ligament injury against Norwich City, with Eckert describing his potential availability as 'ambitious but possible.'

The 27-year-old midfielder came through the ranks of Ipswich Town and spent time with Luton Town and Swansea City before joining West Ham in the summer of 2022, spending just one year with the club he supports, making 35 appearances across all competitions.

He'd join Southampton on loan in 2023, which was then made permanent for up to £18 million the following year, and having since become a crucial cog of the Saints midfield, will be a big miss in this clash if he is indeed deemed unfit.

Cyle Larin

The other potential big miss from this fixture is Canadian striker Cyle Larin, who was withdrawn after 41 minutes in Saints' goalless draw with Bolton last weekend following a coming together with Trotters shot-stopper Gavin Bazunu.

Larin has been one of the best centre-forwards in the Championship over the last calendar year, and is by far one of Southampton's most important players, and any absence of the 31-year-old will almost certainly be greatly felt by the away outfit.

Eckert said he remains 'hopeful' that his main striker will be available for the trip to the capital, but he remains a doubt, as time will tell whether he passes his fitness test.

Mads Roerslev

Danish right-back Mads Roerslev was struck down with an injury-laden campaign last time around following his move to the South Coast from Brentford, managing just nine league appearances for the Saints.

The 27-year-old hasn't been involved in a single matchday squad since November 2026, and is nearing a year since his last professional appearance, which doesn't look to be coming at the London Stadium this weekend.

    How to play

    1. Get from the start player to the finish player. Each link must be two players at the same club in the same season.
    2. Name any teammate of the finish player and the last link fills itself in.
    3. A wrong link costs a life. You get three. You can’t reuse a player.
    4. You have three connections at most, counting the final link to the finish player. Puzzles need two or three.
    5. Score 250 for matching the shortest route, or 150 if you use one link more. Add 50 for every life left.
    6. Seasons count by the season a spell started, loans included. Spells at Premier League clubs count too, as long as the player is in the pool.
