Leeds United have a great opportunity to turn a "decent start" to the Premier League season into something far better and shoot for Europe, according to Sky TV analyst and ex-player Don Goodman.

Daniel Farke's side are currently 12th in the league ladder with 11 points from their opening nine games. Wins have been hard to come by of late, but despite the defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday, Leeds have made themselves difficult to beat this season.

Just a solitary win off sixth place, there's not a lot between many of the sides in the division this season, meaning a run of good results can really elevate a side in the standings. With three home games in the next five matches, and Leeds still unbeaten at Elland Road stretching back to last season, Goodman believes the Whites have an opportunity to overtake some of the sides with European football concerns and make a move towards European qualification.

“Overall, it's been a decent start. They've remained very difficult to beat, maintaining the form they've shown since last December," said Goodman, speaking to Casinolyze.

"Three of their next five games are at home, where they remain unbeaten, facing Spurs, Coventry, and Ipswich. There will be cautious optimism that this start can get even better.

“It was crucial for them to get off to a good start to maintain the momentum built in the second half of last season. They've done that, but they can't rest on their laurels because there are no easy games at this level.

"Their next two away games are against Chelsea and Manchester City. Spurs at home won't be easy, and Coventry and Ipswich will scrap for everything. It's entirely possible in this league to go five games without a win, at which point they’d be looking over their shoulder.

“Conversely, if they take a healthy points return, a top-seven or top-eight finish is realistic, especially since many rivals will be juggling European commitments. Daniel Farke has been around long enough to know how quickly things change in the Premier League, so he won't let complacency creep in.”
