Camilo Durán has discussed his Celtic striker role and his relationship with Kasper Høgh ahead of Sunday’s visit to Hibernian.
In a new CelticPlayer interview, the Colombian spoke about competition for places, playing alongside Callum Osmand and his first trip to Easter Road.
Speaking in Celtic’s official interview report, he said: “As everyone knows, that’s my position and I enjoy playing there.”
Durán acknowledged the responsibility of leading the attack and pledged his best efforts for the club.
The 24-year-old joined Celtic from Qarabag in July, signing a five-year contract.
He arrived after scoring 15 goals and providing 10 assists during the previous season. Five of those goals came in the Champions League.
Durán described mutual encouragement between himself and Høgh, explaining that each supports the other when left out.
“It’s healthy competition,” he said.
He also praised Osmand’s ability and character, saying he enjoys playing alongside him.
Osmand scored twice on his first senior start against Hearts last weekend.
Following the Celta Vigo defeat, Durán said attention had turned to Sunday and avoiding dropped points in the title race.
He hopes to mark his first Easter Road appearance with a goal and a Celtic victory.
Earlier this month, Durán opened the scoring in Celtic’s 2-0 victory at Motherwell.
His low finish from outside the penalty area put the visitors ahead after nine minutes. Benjamin Nygren added the second after the interval, securing the points at Fir Park.
The interview also outlined Durán’s ambition to reach double figures for Celtic, with the forward looking to maintain his contribution in front of goal.
His immediate priority, however, is helping the team collect another three points. Celtic head to Edinburgh following domestic victories over Motherwell and Hearts, with Durán now preparing to experience another Scottish Premiership ground for the first time.
Alongside that personal milestone, he hopes his first visit to Easter Road will bring both a goal and a winning result.
