A legendary Premier League owner has died, with his heartbroken former club leading the tributes on social media. Geoffrey Richmond, 85, was chairman at Bradford City between 1994 and 2002.
Bradford shared the sad news of Richmond's passing with a post on social media, before paying tribute to their iconic owner with a statement on their website. It read: "Former Bradford City AFC chairman Geoffrey Richmond has passed away at the age of 85.
"Geoffrey served as Bradford City chairman for eight years, from 1994 to 2002. During that period, the Bantams made their first Wembley appearance in 1996. Goals from Des Hamilton and Mark Stallard secured promotion to the First Division, with victory over Notts County at the national stadium.

"Just a few years later, in 1999, City reached the Premier League and famously survived on the final day thanks to David Wetherall's decisive finish against Liverpool.
"Geoffrey’s time as custodian of the club also included a European campaign, with the Bantams reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2000/01.
"Geoffrey played an important role in the redevelopment of the Main Stand, Kop and Midland Road Stand at Valley Parade.
"The thoughts of everyone at Bradford City AFC are with Geoffrey’s family and friends at this difficult time."
And responding to the post, fans also paid tribute: "Lived the dream and delivered our club to the Premier League and into Europe. Personified there never being a dull moment at this club," one said.
"Rest in peace Geoffrey. Thank you for giving us the dream and realising the potential of not just the club, but the city itself," a second shared. And another added: "RIP the only man who’s been in charge of the club who allowed us all to dream, and made the previously impossible possible!"
