The India National Cricket Team captain Shreyas Iyer has won the toss and decided to bowl first in the fourth T20I against New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, October 30.
The Men in Blue have already taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20I series, but captain Shreyas Iyer is not ready to take things lightly against New Zealand. Earlier, Dodda Ganesh questions Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's exclusion.
India have made two changes to their playing XI for the fourth T20I against New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland. Ishan Kishan has returned to the team in place of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar was dropped for Mayank Yadav after three expensive spells on the tour.
Shreyas Iyer has created a special record after winning the toss at Eden Park in Auckland. He became the captain with the most toss wins in his first 25 matches in charge. Iyer has won 19 tosses in his first 25 matches as captain, the most by any captain at this stage.
Former West Indies captain Daren Sammy and former Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha are next on the list with 17 toss wins each among captains of Full Member teams in T20I cricket.
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer wants the Indian players to maintain the same aggressive approach against New Zealand despite winning the T20I series 3-0. He has made it clear that India must continue playing ruthless cricket and stay focused and stressed the players are in high spirits.
Iyer said at the toss, as quoted by Cricbuzz, "See, it's important to be ruthless irrespective of whatever the result has been so far. "And the boys have been given the same message. You got to be unruffled irrespective of what the occasion is. And I feel everyone is in high spirits.”
Speaking about the Eden Park pitch, Iyer expects the surface to offer good bounce and some movement for the fast bowlers. The skipper shared that the pitch has a decent amount of grass, which could make things interesting for India's bowling attack.
The Indian captain added, “You never know. There is a decent amount of grass, so I'm definitely expecting bounce and seam movement as well.” Amid this, Pakistan crush India in Hong Kong Sixes after Krunal Pandya's horror show.
Iyer said that the Indian team is adjusting to New Zealand's changing ground sizes, strong winds, and cold weather. He added that India will continue giving its best as the job is not yet complete.
He added, “Absolutely, and also the wind is following us everywhere. It's becoming chilly again and again. But we have decided that we are not going to leave no stone unturned. So that is going to be our mindset. And obviously, we have won the series, but I still feel that job is half done.”
