The Blues head to Damson Park (kick-off 3pm) to take on the National League’s second-bottom side.
Their hosts have lost six of their seven home games so far this campaign.
Elliot, though, says United should not pay attention to the league table – and simply ensure their own principles are right.
“It’s about having the confidence of understanding what you need to do to win,” he said.
“You do the basics well.
“I think Solihull have a really good squad but for whatever reason they’re in a tough position at the moment.

“We have to go there and not look at league tables. As soon as you think like that, that’s when you’re in trouble.
“For us it’s about doing the basics well. There's a lot of talent in this group, as you can see from the opportunities we create and moments of individual brilliance, but when we’re not on it mentally, and not ready and robust to go and win the battle before the game, that’s where we’ve come off it.”
Elliot is likely to recall a number of players he rested for last weekend’s FA Cup win against Tamworth, with Adam Desbois, Morgan Feeney, Jack Ellis, Miguel Azeez and David Ajiboye among those targeting a recall.
Luke Armstrong could also make the trip to take part in the warm-up as he gets closer to a return to action, Elliot has said.
A robust approach to the game must be paramount, the Blues boss added, as 14th-placed Carlisle aim for three straight wins on the road for the first time in the league since 2022.
“In the last few games, we’ve been at it – defending the box well, defending set-pieces, winning first and second balls and being compact,” Elliot added.

“We're doing the things that make the big difference overall.
“When you go to a team that maybe aren't in the best of form you've got to make sure that you don't give them anything to get their confidence up and sniff out an opportunity.
“They'll be doing everything they can to make sure they turn their form around, and we need to make sure we don't allow that – we stifle it.”
