Chadderton were hesitant in the opening exchanges and were lucky not to go behind after five minutes when the visitors hit the Chadderton post.

Bottesford took the lead after 16 minutes through Jack Vartey following some sloppy defending by the home side.

Gradually, Chadderton got into the game and Theo Andrew brought a great save from the visitors' keeper in the 33rd minute.

A Darren McNight free-kick was just wide after 42 minutes.

After the break Chadderton missed a great chance to level the scores when Darren McNight's free-kick was only parried but the home side missed a great chance with the goal at their mercy.

In the 55th minute, Bottesford were down to 10 men when Cody was dismissed for a last man on goal foul and Jordan Lazenbury scored from the resulting free-kick.

Despite their numerical advantage Chadderton failed to capitalise against a determined visiting defence.

In the penalty shoot-out, only Liam Atkinson scored from the spot while Bottesford hit the target with four.

Chadderton are at home again on Tuesday when they entertain Mossley in the Manchester Premier Cup.

They stay at home on Saturday when Atherton LR are the visitors to the EMPLAS COMMERCIAL NORTH STADIUM for an NWCL Premier Division fixture.
