The Indianapolis Colts have much to improve on following Sunday’s 42-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And quarterback Daniel Jones made clear that any concerns about effort can't be overlooked.
“Obviously any effort issue is unacceptable,” Jones said, in a clip shared by WISH-TV. “Wherever we see that will certainly be addressed.”
Jones didn't identify particulars in his words. His message, nevertheless, sets a standard that should apply regardless of the score or the team’s record.
The Colts fell to 2-6 after a game that was effectively out of reach by halftime, when Jacksonville held a 28-0 lead.
Jones completed 19 of 28 passes for 144 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions. Anthony Richardson replaced him in the fourth quarter.
Indianapolis’ lone touchdown came on Jones’ 6-yard pass to Josh Downs in the third quarter. By then, Jacksonville had a 35-0 advantage anyway.
The performance left Indianapolis in what looks like a continued spiral as the team loses more games.
