Kyle Hutton is said to have been “unfit to drive through alcohol or drugs” when he allegedly struck Victoria Cairns, 40, on Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen in Lanarkshire on November 2 2024.
It is claimed the 35-year-old – who played nine games for the Pars as they headed towards relegation while on loan from crisis-stricken Rangers in 2012 – is accused of going at excessive speed for the conditions at the time.

Prosecutors state Hutton failed to carry out “proper observations” and did not detect Miss Cairns standing on the road.
It is alleged he then struck the woman, causing her to fall to the ground and that she was so badly hurt she passed away in hospital four days later.
Hutton – whose other clubs included Cowdenbeath, St Mirren, Dumbarton and Partick Thistle – faces a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
There is an alternative allegation that the fatality was instead as a result of being careless behind the wheel.
Hutton is further charged with failing to co-operate with breath and drug tests when asked by a police officer.
There is a separate accusation of also not providing two specimens of breath to determine his “ability to drive”.
The case called for a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today.
Graeme Brown KC, defending, pled not guilty on his behalf to causing Miss Cairns' death.
Mr Brown: “I am content a trial is assigned.”
The solicitor advocate added there is potentially upsetting footage which jurors may be shown as part of the evidence.
Mr Brown further said Hutton's wife is likely to be called as a defence witness.
Lord Scott went on to set a trial, which is scheduled to begin in February 2028.
The case could last around four days.
Hutton, also of Rutherglen, remains on bail in the meantime.
