A vanquished giant visits Kenilworth Road on Saturday.
The Hatters welcome Leicester City, to Kenilworth Road, for an EFL League One fixture.
Like ourselves, Leicester City have fallen from grace courtesy of two consecutive relegation seasons.
However, their fall from grace is far more spectacular than ours when you consider the club won the Premier League back in 2016 and the FA Cup back in 2021.
As has been the case this season, I am revisiting the ‘They Played for Both’ series.
After due consideration and studying the material available to me, I have come up with the following starting XI (plus substitute), see what you think:
Goalkeeper – Lars Hirschfeld
Defender – Max Dougan
Defender – Curtis Davies
Defender – Alan Sheehan
Defender – James Justin
Midfielder – Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Midfielder – Ricky Hill
Midfielder – Scott Oakes
Forward – Rodney Fern
Forward – Steve Howard
Forward – Mike Newell
Substitute – Alan Birchenall
I think you will agree that it is a pretty decent line-up, with a mixture of players that have played during the various era’s I have been following the Hatters.
But doing the research for the article, I came across numerous players, who I term as ‘others’ that fit the selection criteria, these are listed below:
But do you believe any of them deserve inclusion in the starting XI I have selected?
Each of us may have differing views.
Indeed, is there anyone you can mention that may have eluded my research, if so, feel free to drop their name(s) into the comment facility beneath this article.
Sadly, I have this penchant for missing the obvious, I blame it on old age!
Finally, Chris Powell deserves a mention with our assistant manager having appeared for Leicester City, as a player.
