Ousmane Dembélé’s instant reaction to Harry Kane being named the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner is going viral.
Despite helping Paris Saint-Germain retain Ligue 1 and the Champions League last term, Dembélé finished seventh in the 2026 edition of the Ballon d’Or, having won the 2025 version of the gong.
Harry Kane took the men’s prize after a record-breaking 2025/26 campaign in which he helped Bayern win the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, while also guiding England to a third-place finish at the World Cup.
Despite failing to win a major trophy with either Real Madrid or France last term, Kylian Mbappé came second after netting 42 goals for Los Blancos. Kopa Trophy winner Lamine Yamal completed the top three in the main award after helping Spain win the World Cup and Barcelona secure a second successive La Liga crown.
A who’s who of the footballing world was in attendance at the London Palladium Theatre, with several of Kane’s Bayern team-mates among the first to congratulate the Englishman.
Footage also emerged showing the reactions of 2024 winner Rodri, who came fourth this time around, and 2025 winner Dembélé. Fans praised both players for standing up to hug Kane, while Yamal remained seated despite clapping along with the rest of the crowd.
Another fan suggested Dembélé instantly looked at Mbappé to catch his reaction to Kane’s triumph.
One fan said: “Dembélé checking Mbappé like, ‘How you feel now, bro?’”
Another added: “See how happy Rodri is. That is a sportsman.”
A third claimed: “Tbh, I understand Mbappé. He looked very disappointed but tried to hold it together, same for Yamal.”
A fourth added: “In the video, only one person doesn’t stand up to congratulate the new Ballon d’Or winner.”
Dembélé did have the opportunity to receive the men’s Club of the Year award on behalf of Paris Saint-Germain.
“On behalf of PSG, thank you,” Dembélé said. “We have created an incredible group and club. We fight for each other, and we try to bring joy to our fans, to neutrals and to our haters.”
