The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their first practice ahead of their Week 9 battle with the Las Vegas Raiders, and they're getting some pretty important pieces back on the practice field on Wednesday.
While speaking to the media Wednesday afternoon, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that defensive end Nick Bosa will begin practicing after missing over a month due to a calf strain.
Bosa, the 29-year-old five-time Pro Bowler, recorded seven tackles and a quarterback hit in the first two games of the season before the injury. His return will certainly bring a huge boost to the defensive front.
While getting Bosa back is exciting, Shanahan also revealed that the 49ers are opening the practice windows for cornerback Nate Hobbs and wide receiver Demarcus Robinson.
Robinson was a cut candidate before a strong training camp that led to five receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown in the first two weeks before suffering a high ankle sprain. Hobbs was one of San Francisco's most intriguing additions this offseason after he spent five years with the Raiders and one with the Green Bay Packers. He's been on injured reserve since the season started due to a groin injury.
Unfortunately, it can never be all positive injury news for San Francisco. Shanahan also revealed that running back Christian McCaffrey (hamstring), wide receiver Mike Evans (Achilles) and wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring) won't practice on Wednesday.
With these three important veterans, the 49ers should be cautious and give them plenty of time to recover because they'll need them for the stretch run.
