Ligue 1 Predictions, Round 9

GFFN editor-in-chief Luke Entwistle, and sub-editor Bastien Cheval face off in our Ligue 1 predictions competition, which returns for the 2026/27 campaign. This season, GFFN will also be hosting guests. It’s three points for a correct score, two points for a correct score difference, and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Game of the week: Lille OSC v RC Lens, Friday 20:05 (UK)

Lille OSC’s standing in Ligue 1, third and just two points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain, is not necessarily reflective of their level so far under Davide Ancelotti. Their wins have come against Le Havre AC, ESTAC Troyes, Toulouse FC, and SCO Angers. You would expect them to beat at least three of those teams and they were lucky to beat Toulouse, as president Olivier Létang has himself admitted. LOSC are also winless in the UEFA Champions League.

This is a big test for Ancelotti at a time where lots of commentators are beginning to doubt what is being built at Lille. They will host RC Lens who are now beginning to hit a bit of form. That is despite the absence of Abdallah Sima and now Odsonne Édouard. It doesn’t necessarily matter when Florian Thauvin is in such a fine vein of form. There is a degree of Thauvin dependence growing, but he hasn’t let them down yet.
