Konstas smashed 149 off 131 with 15 fours and four sixes in the One-Day Cup against Western Australia on Saturday, October 24, at the WACA. He walked at number three after NSW lost Riley Kingsell in the second over after batting first.

Konstas steadied the ship with an 81-run partnership for the second wicket with Josh Phillipe (51) off 89 balls, and patiently built his innings before getting to his fifty off 59 balls with a six. He added 85 runs with skipper Lachlan Shaw (44) and another 82 with Jack Edwards (45), bringing up his second List A century off 106 balls in the process.

He upped the ante after getting to three figures, scoring his next 49 runs in 25 balls, and was only dismissed in the 47th over. Riding on his terrific knock, NSW posted a mammoth 371 runs, their second-highest total ever in the format.

Konstas hits form as Australia's top-order woes continue

The 149-run knock was Konstas's fourth consecutive 50-plus score. He scored a 67 in the second unofficial ODI against India A in Puducherry earlier this month, and followed it up with 71 and 151* for NSW in the Sheffield Shield against Western Australia at the WACA.

He took WA to the cleaners again in the One-Day Cup to send a message to the selectors ahead of the upcoming home Test series against New Zealand. With Nic Maddinson struggling on his return in South Africa and Marnus Labuschagne's torrid time continuing, Konstas has forced his way into selection talks. David Warner also backed him to bat at No.3 for Australia after his Shield ton last week.

Konstas hasn't played for Australia since the West Indies tour in July last year. He had made a bright start to his Test career, smashing Jasprit Bumrah for fun on debut in the Boxing Day Test in December 2024 in a 60-run knock. But he could only muster 103 runs in his next nine innings before being eventually dropped.
