Fallon Sherrock has revealed exactly how she will spend the £501k prize money she secured by defeating reigning world champion Luke Littler over one leg on Friday (October 30).
Netflix’s Beat Luke Littler was aired for the first time on Friday, with Gary Lineker, Lee Mack, Richard Osman and AngryGinge presenting the event. It saw 20 players who were not members of the PDC Tour attempt to beat ‘The Nuke’ over one leg in a bid to win £501,000.
Fourteen amateurs tried and ultimately failed before Sherrock stepped up to claim the prize. She had previously become the first woman to beat a male opponent at the PDC World Championship, in December 2019.
The 32-year-old won the bull-off to throw first, then landed a 180 before checking out on double 20 to claim the prize. The event ended immediately, with five amateurs missing out on the opportunity to face Littler and win the hefty prize.
Speaking to the PDC after the event, the Milton Keynes thrower revealed that she would spend most of the money on her son, Rory.
“I’ll probably end up getting the house that he wants, stuff like that. As long as Rory is alright, that is my main focus for my future.”
In a separate interview, she added: “It's insane. I can't put into words what it means, especially having Rory here. It's his first time at anything, and he has seen me win.
“It's a great moment, and I will memorise this forever. Give me an opportunity, and I will take it every time. I'm really proud of myself. I rise to the occasion.”
Further discussing her victory with The Sun, Sherrock revealed that she was initially worried she would miss out on facing Littler because of the public vote, in which she was selected ahead of Germany’s Jarod Becker.
She explained: “To be fair, I was more nervous about not getting the vote than I was about facing Littler.
“I’ll be honest: if you’d seen any videos or anything from the back room, you’d have seen me shouting for people!
“It’s not because I want Luke to lose or anything. It’s because this prize money is life-changing. It’s definitely going to change my life.
“I feel like people think I have more money than I do, but I really haven’t.”
Meanwhile, Littler reacted graciously to the defeat.
The 19-year-old said: “World class. I've enjoyed every bit of it: the ad, the photo shoots, just everything leading up to this. It's been good. Maybe, Netflix, we can do it again next year.”
In 2023, Sherrock decided to take a step back from darts and focus on her health, revealing an illness related to her kidneys that reduced their capacity to function. She was first diagnosed with the illness in 2014.
"All I want is to practise at home for a couple of hours a day, but I can't do that at the moment," she told Online Darts last year.
"So it is difficult. I've had to pull out of a few exhibition events recently because I haven't had the stamina.
"I really wanted to play in the Women's Week at Modus, and I wasn't able to play for a whole week.
"So I've had to narrow down what I'm playing in now, and that hurts a little bit because I love darts.
"But fingers crossed, in a couple of years' time, I'll be alright and I'll be back to winning really well.
"I feel like I'm a strong individual, and whatever gets thrown at me, I will overcome it. We'll see what happens in the next few months, but I'm more determined now to keep fighting. I genuinely just want to play darts, enjoy my life and not worry about anything at the moment."
Sherrock has since secured a spot at the World Championship this winter, having finished third in the Women’s Series Order of Merit in October.
