Scotland Women learn fate in Nations League A draw

Melissa Andreatta’s side were drawn in Group A4 along with the Germans, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Scotland won promotion back to League A after remaining unbeaten in the Women’s World Cup group stage qualifiers earlier this year.

The Nations League fixtures will begin in February 2027.

Scotland are already set to take on the Swedes in round two of World Cup qualifying in December.

They also previously faced Germany and the Netherlands in the 2025 Nations League.

Meanwhile, also in League A, European champions England were drawn against France, Austria and Portugal in Group A2.

Wales were pulled out in Group A3 alongside Denmark, Italy and Iceland.

In Group B3, Northern Ireland were drawn out with Poland, Finland and Belarus.

Meanwhile, the Republic of Ireland landed a tough task with Nations League holders Spain in their group along with Norway and Switzerland.

The Nations League will play a key role in determining qualification for both the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and the 2029 Women's European Championship in Germany.

The winners of League A's four groups will advance to the Nations League Finals in October and automatically secure a place at the expanded Olympic Games. Meanwhile, the team finishing bottom of each League A group will drop down to League B.

Teams ending the campaign third in League A will enter promotion/relegation play-offs against runners-up from League B.

For Northern Ireland, who are competing in League B, topping their group would ensure promotion to League A, while a second-place finish would earn a place in the promotion play-offs.

At the other end of the table, the last-placed team in each League B group will be relegated automatically, along with the two worst-performing third-placed sides.
