United are preparing for Sunday’s game against Bournemouth as usual with under-fire Carrick set to take charge
Manchester United have signalled that Michael Carrick will remain in charge for Sunday’s game against Bournemouth.
The club have confirmed they will hold a pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon in an indication Carrick will not be sacked following Wednesday’s 4-1 thrashing by Como.
United, who have only won two games all season, are on a run of seven matches without a win and are only 13th in the Premier League and 20th in the Champions League table, as well as being knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
Captain Bruno Fernandes criticised Carrick’s tactics – and in particular the way the team was not told to press – in Como, a week after defender Lisandro Martinez launched an attack on sporting director Jason Wilcox.
Carrick said United’s performance in Como was “not acceptable” and that he was “angry” after it.
After Bournemouth, United face Chelsea, Roma and Aston Villa before the international break.
