With running back David Montgomery most likely out again for the Houston Texans’ Week 7 game against the New York Giants, they must turn to some of their other running backs on the roster.
Last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, they primarily relied on Woody Marks and Jawhar Jordan. Marks got the most carries and finished the game with 56 rushing yards. However, they found greater success with Jordan who had 7.2 yards per carry and a touchdown. That will not be the case for Houston against the Giants after Jordan suffered an injury against Jacksonville and will be out for multiple weeks.
“Unfortunately, Jawhar did [get injured]," Ryans said Wednesday. "He finished the game and he had a quad injury that showed up when we went through our injury check. It shows the toughness that he had to be able to finish the game, but he'll be missing a few weeks and we'll continue to lean on Woody and see what he's able to do running the football.”
Since Montgomery and Jordan will be out for this game, Houston will be relying on Marks and Dare Ogunbowale who has only played one offensive snap this season.
The Texans also have Deuce Vaughn on the practice squad who has not played in an NFL game since the 2024 season. The Texans will want to take advantage of the Giants’ poor run defense, which has allowed the fifth-most rushing yards of any team in the NFL.
The Texans kick off against the New York Giants on Sunday at Noon.
