Sir David Beckham has sent a message to Manchester United, just days after receiving backing to become a future owner of his beloved club.
Few players embody United’s golden era quite like Beckham, who grew up supporting the Red Devils before fulfilling his childhood dream at Old Trafford.
A graduate of the famous Class of ’92, Beckham made 394 appearances and scored 85 goals, winning six Premier League titles.
His greatest achievement came during the historic 1999 Treble, when his two corners helped United complete their extraordinary Champions League comeback against Bayern Munich.
After departing for Real Madrid in 2003, Beckham established himself as a global businessman and football club owner.
He co-owns Inter Miami, home to Lionel Messi, and leads Salford City’s ownership consortium alongside Gary Neville.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s ownership situation remains deeply controversial.
The Glazers retain majority control, while Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS oversees football operations following its 2024 investment.
Years of disappointing performances, mounting debt, redundancies and rising ticket prices have intensified demands for change.
Earlier this week, former United midfielder Paul Scholes backed Beckham for a potential takeover of the club.
Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Scholes declared: “I don’t see why not.”
Now, Beckham has shared a nostalgic message with his former club.
On Friday, Beckham took to his official Instagram account to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Sir Alex Ferguson’s appointment as Manchester United manager.
The 51-year-old shared a nostalgic photograph showing himself as a youngster alongside Ferguson, appearing to sign paperwork.
Beckham tagged Manchester United’s official account, adding a red heart emoji: “@manutd ❤️”.
Ferguson was appointed on 6 November 1986, replacing Ron Atkinson after enjoying tremendous success with Aberdeen.
His remarkable 26-year reign produced 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues.
Beckham became one of his greatest success stories, developing into a global superstar under the legendary Scotsman’s guidance.
Despite their complicated departure in 2003, Beckham’s latest tribute demonstrates his enduring affection for United’s most successful manager.
