The Brooklyn Nets (1-6) are hoping to turn their season around after beginning the 2026-27 NBA campaign with an 0-5 record before managing to beat the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. Brooklyn is coming off a tough 103-90 loss to the New York Knicks on Monday, but with a winnable matchup against the visiting Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, the Nets have the majority of the rotation available.
The Nets announced on Tuesday that guard Egor Demin remains out for Wednesday's game against the Hornets due to a right leg bone bruise that he suffered last week. When Brooklyn gave an update on Demin on Oct. 29 to explain what happened to him, the team said in the press release that the second-year guard would be re-evaluated in one week from that time.
Assuming that Demin's recovery holds to that timeframe, Wednesday's game against Charlotte should be the last game he misses with his current injury given that the Nets' next game after Wednesday is Saturday at the Atlanta Hawks. With Demin out of the lineup for the past few games, players like Nolan Traore and Chaney Johnson have been seeing more playing time with head coach Jordi Fernandez's rotation.
Moving on in the injury report, the Nets announced that Drake Powell, Joshua Jefferson, Ben Saraf, Tyler Bilodeau, and Grant Nelson have been assigned to the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn's G League afiliate. Fernandez's rotation to this point in the season has usually left enough room for nine players to see substantial playing time so this could be Brooklyn's way of making sure that the younger players on the roster continue to see reps.
For the Hornets, forward Kon Knueppel (left hamstring strain) and guard Coby White (left calf injury management) are probable for Wednesday's contest against the Nets. Forward Grant Williams remains out for Charlotte as he continues to recover from a right hamstring strain, but with Knueppel and White likely to play, Brooklyn will have more players to worry about this time around than when these squads first met in the season opener.
