Bills' Josh Allen on win over Ravens: 'Not the sharpest day'

The Bills continue to win ugly and make history along the way.

Buffalo led from start to finish in a 36-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens in front of Bills Mafia at home in Highmark Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

And while it unfortunately included injuries to Baltimores QB1 and QB2 in Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley, which saw both players leave the game and not return to play, Buffalo's defense held the Ravens offense off throughout the afternoon.

This marked a big improvement for a unit that has given up 30+ points to opponents often in early contests this season.

Josh Allen finished 21-of-34 for 289 yards with two passing touchdowns, one interception and a rushing score, giving him his 102nd career win including the postseason to move him past Tom Brady for third among players through their first nine seasons, trailing only Patrick Mahomes (112) and the retiredRussell Wilson (107).

He also broke Jim Kelly's franchise record for touchdown passes, and he and RB1 James Cook both had a rushing TD in the same game for the 16th time, which is the most by a pair of teammates in NFL history. Not a bad day.

The 11-yard strike to DJ Moore late in the fourth quarter was Allen's 259th touchdown pass with Buffalo, which moved him ahead of Jim Kelly atop the franchise list.

Even still, the Bills continued to play messy and gut out wins in ugly fashion. And the former NFL MVP knew it.

"Not the sharpest day for the offense. That first half wasn't our standard, it was really bad," Allen said during his postgame media availability. "We weren't throwing it, catching it. I didn't feel like I was doing a good enough job. Obviously, the couple turnovers in the first half, it's not winning football."

Buffalo managed just 19.6 yards per possession after its opening series, with four different players dropping passes and one of those bobbles turning into an interception. The offense also carried 10 penalties for 87 yards, as the team continued to struggle in that area.

"We were turning the ball over, taking penalties, getting nice plays, and penalties started showing up. Getting the ball in the red zone, a penalty showing up. It was like Groundhog Day, right?", head coach Joe Brady said to press.

While the 6-1 record is great for the standings in the AFC for the Bills, Brady continued to preach the importance of cleaning up old mistakes and playing a convincing sixty-minute style.

"I think our standard wasn't good. I thought our execution, our details, penalties, and fumbles, and, I thought we started off fast in that first drive, but then I felt like we kind of lost our way in terms of some of the little things. But there's time on the clock. Let's just keep playing, and we'll figure it out. And the guys have a lot of trust in us, and I have a lot of trust in them."

Buffalo gutted out another ugly win and the Bills defense got the job done, overcoming their penalties and ball protection issues to improve to 6-1. They'll look to continue to add to the win column next week in Minnesota against the Vikings.
