Manchester United’s first-team squad under Red Devils boss Michael Carrick have been brutally slammed after this season’s ongoing Premier League woes at Old Trafford.
That is according to Manchester United fan-favourite Gordon Hill, who launched a scathing assessment of the Red Devils’ latest Premier League setback on Saturday.

Manchester United did play well in the first half at Stamford Bridge, but both Premier League sides went into the half-time break with a 0-0 scoreline on the board. United manager Michael Carrick watched on from the dugout as the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo missed key chances in the first half.
The Red Devils have only chalked up one Premier League win in the 2026-27 campaign and United have suffered four defeats and managed four draws. Carrick’s only victories as Red Devils boss this season came in United’s 5-2 comeback win over Ipswich Town in August and the 4-0 drubbing of Sabah in the Champions League in September.
Speaking on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Gordon Hill insisted that the Red Devils are underdelivering in their performances this season. The 72-year-old former Man Utd and England winger was equally critical of the ‘attitudes’ of the United first-team players and the lack of ‘attacking flair’ under Carrick.
“First thing is I want to apologise for the displays from these so-called United players, and their attitude,” Hill tweeted.
“We have [an] attacking football club, but [we are] just not seeing it.”
“They’re going to have to find something. When Michael Carrick took over, they had Man City and Arsenal and everyone thought, ‘Oh, they’re in trouble,’ but they found something and got big results and performances.
“They’ve got big fixtures coming up and need a result. Those big moments are not going their way.”
United’s next match will be in the Champions League against Serie A side Roma at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening. The Red Devils will resume their Premier League campaign next Sunday when they host Aston Villa at the Theatre of Dreams.
