Tom Brady is returning to Foxborough next Sunday, making his first trip back to Gillette Stadium as a broadcaster. He’ll be in the booth for the matchup between his former team, the New England Patriots, and the Green Bay Packers.
To mark the occasion, Fox Sports released a tribute video looking back at Brady’s time in New England. The response from Patriots fans made it clear that, even years after his departure, the quarterback still holds a special place in their hearts.
Brady will join play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt for Fox’s Week 9 broadcast on Nov. 8. The game also falls on a special weekend for New England, with former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski set to be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame.
The network’s promotional video featured moments from Brady’s 20 seasons in New England, where he won six Super Bowl titles.
After MLFootball shared the clip on X and called it an “EPIC” preview of his return, Patriots fans were quick to react. Even the team’s official account responded with a single goat emoji, a fitting nod to the quarterback’s place in franchise history.
Sports analyst Jeff Hoak was clearly feeling the nostalgia, too. He wrote, “Enough to make a grown man cry.”
Michael Rodnick, co-host of the Patriots-focused show “4th and Run,” acknowledged what Brady means to the fanbase, while also noting that some of his comments since leaving the team have not sat well with everyone.
“Okay, this is epic. I do see him getting a roaring ovation for being there. Regardless of his post-career words, he still gave us six rings to celebrate 20 years of greatness,” Rodnick wrote.
However, not everyone wanted Brady’s return to become a bigger talking point than the game itself. One fan posted, “He’s coming to announce the game. Calm down,” along with three laughing emojis.
Henry McKenna, a writer for NFL on FOX, offered a shorter reaction: “Gonna be epic.”
Brady’s return is also a big moment for Fox’s top broadcast team.
The former quarterback reportedly signed a 10-year, $375 million deal with the network after retiring and now works alongside Burkhardt on its biggest weekly games. Getting the Packers and Patriots for his return to Gillette Stadium makes this an even bigger occasion for the network.
There’s also a pretty interesting quarterback battle waiting on the field. Green Bay’s Jordan Love has thrown for 2,246 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while New England’s Drake Maye has put up 1,983 passing yards and 18 total TDs.
Maye currently ranks No. 4 in the league with a PFN QB Impact Score of 85.0, comfortably ahead of Love, who sits at No. 15 with a 77.3.
