After snapping its losing streak last weekend with a home win against Purdue, Penn State now prepares for its longest road trip of the season. Penn State travels to the Pacific Northwest to face Washington, a team coming off a thrilling four-quarter rally on the road to beat Nebraska a week ago. Can Penn State pick up a hard-fought victory on the road against a Huskies team that has had some rough stretches on offense, or will it be a long flight home to Happy Valley?
Here are our final score and player of the game predictions for Penn State's Week 10 game against Washington, along with some brief thoughts on the matchup.
I feel like I am going against the grain with a lot of predictions for this week's game on the road at Washington. The long-distance travel and the challenging environment Penn State is walking into does not sit well with me, even after last week's game against Purdue. Washington is coming off a late-rally win at Nebraska and it looks as though Demond Williams Jr. will be the starter this weekend. He has had a tough season but I'm not 100 percent sold that Penn State's defense will be able to contain things enough on the road. If Chase Sowell and Koby Howard are available, however, my outlook on this weekend could shift in Penn State's favor.
I expect this game to be a defensive battle. Washington has struggled to put up points at times this year, so I think Penn State has the edge in a low-scoring game.
Unlike against Purdue, I feel like this game will have to be grinded out by the blue and white. The Huskies do a great job of limiting explosive plays, so don’t expect Rocco Bach to have a big day through the air. Much like last week, I think the run game will dictate the game but this time it will be Hansen that shines.
