Why Iraola has stopped talking to Alonso

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Liverpool vs Chelsea in the Carabao Cup at Anfield.

Looking forward to this? I am.

Liverpool's form is going a bit under the radar. But get on this... if they beat Arsenal on Sunday they will move within three points of the defending champions and potentially a Manchester City side whose sanctions must surely come sooner or later.

Title push anyone?

Let's not get carried away just yet. But it does beg the question whether Andoni Iraola would be best resting some of his biggest starrs for tonight's tie and concentrating on the huge Gunners game.

But then it's Chelsea. And with Arsenal out after their humiliating loss at Fleetwood Town, and Man City set to leave a number of big names out of their squad for a tricky-looking clash at home to Brighton, it feels like the draw could be really opening up.
