Assistant Aaron Danks discussed two absences for Bayern Munich against Arsenal.
An illness has struck and affected head coach Vincent Kompany, forcing his assistant to conduct media duties in his absence. Danks gave more details about what has happened to the Belgian.
“[The viral infection] has affected his legs at times and he's felt some pain in his legs. I'm not sure about the reports that he was lying down on the couch. I think we can all lie down on the couch after a game sometimes. It's just a virus.
"The doctors, the experts know way more than I do. The most important thing that we just encourage is that he rests, he takes the time that he needs, whatever that may be, however long that may be. I can't give you any more whether that's tomorrow or whether that's two, three days' time.
“For me, not much changes. I plan the training sessions every day. We miss Vincent, but we have a strong coaching team, and we know what needs to be done.”
Another significant absence is on the field for Die Roten. A red card in the 3-3 draw with Viking has ruled Michael Olise out of contention for the game at the Allianz Arena.
He is the chief creative force from the flanks and a big presence in big games, so his quality will be missed on Wednesday.
"I was focused on getting the team prepared and ready. We'll speak with Vincent later. Lennart Karl is one of many who could come into the team in these moments. At a big club like Bayern, we have a fantastic squad, great attacking players.
“We'll miss Michael, but it's also an opportunity for someone else to step up and show their character and ability. We'll see.
"We know Arsenal are a fantastic defensive team. It'll be a high-level game. You have to be prepared for everything with them because they're very well coached."
