Manchester United have been linked with another potential move for Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez as speculation grows over the club’s plans for the January transfer window.
The Red Devils have reportedly been monitoring the Spanish international for some time, with the 23-year-old establishing himself as one of the most exciting attacking midfielders in European football.
Lopez enjoyed an impressive campaign under Hansi Flick last season and has continued to develop into an increasingly influential figure at the Camp Nou.
His ability to contribute goals from midfield, operate in several attacking positions and press opponents aggressively has attracted attention from clubs across Europe.
Now, following another outstanding performance for the Catalan giants, Fermin Lopez has personally addressed the speculation surrounding a potential move to Manchester United.
The midfielder was instrumental in Barcelona’s emphatic 6-1 victory over Alaves on Saturday, scoring once and providing two assists for Raphinha.
Speaking after the match, Lopez was asked directly about United’s reported interest and made it clear that leaving Barcelona was not something he was considering.
“I don’t pay attention to this kind of news,” Lopez told reporters, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“I want to stay at Barcelona for as long as possible, and I hope to finish my career at this club.”
His comments followed a goal celebration in which he kissed the Barcelona badge before pointing towards it, further underlining his attachment to the club.
The midfielder’s performances have made him an increasingly important part of Flick’s plans, with his attacking output providing Barcelona with another significant source of goals.
Fermin Lopez has already contributed six goals and five assists this season, maintaining the impressive form that has made him such an attractive prospect for interested clubs.
For Manchester United, his comments represent a significant obstacle to any potential pursuit.
While the club’s interest may continue, Barcelona have little incentive to sell a player who remains under a long-term contract and has publicly expressed his desire to spend the rest of his career at the Camp Nou.
Unless that position changes, United appear unlikely to convince Lopez to make the move to Old Trafford.
