Terence Crawford is once again being linked to a return to the sport despite his retirement in late 2025. Now, ‘Bud’ has revealed which fight he would love to take part in if he was able to come back at any weight.
Crawford trumped Ricky Burns for the WBO lightweight title to claim world honours for the first time, and the American superstar went on to become a five-division world champion, capturing the undisputed title at three of those weights.
After decisioning Canelo Alvarez for all four super-middleweight world titles last September, he announced his decision to retire from boxing with his undefeated record intact, but Canelo’s recent calls for a rematch have seen ‘Bud’ toying with the idea of a comeback.
Despite Alvarez’s hopes, Crawford has instead flirted with the idea of a clash with Ryan Garcia in the middleweight division, but also revealed on X that, if he was able to, he would love to return to lightweight and take on Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
“I wish I was at 135, I’ll stop Tank. He talk too much, but be picking and choosing. But we know he would come up with some excuses like he do with Shakur.”
“Then again I’ll come in at 135 and he’ll say I gotta be 130 come fight time.”
As Crawford alludes to, his good friend Shakur Stevenson remains hopeful of securing a shot with Davis, having been linked to one another for a number of years.
However, with Davis yet to fight since his controversial draw with Lamont Roach in March 2025, it is deemed unlikely that the pair will collide any time soon.
