NFL legend Tom Brady has named his top 10 weekly Power Rankings, and it doesn't feature a single AFC North team. The most-decorated quarterback in NFL history even went so far as to propose a rule change concerning the division to improve the viewing experience.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion named the Minnesota Vikings as the new number one in his rankings.
"Someone alert the media, we got a new number one in the Tom Brady Power Rankings as the Vikings beat the Colts to stay unbeaten," Brady said.
"I'm taking a mini victory lap here. We were getting some heat early when I had the Vikings up with the Niners and Chiefs of the world, but they're backing it up."
Brady added that they will have to work on their offence, but they are well coached and the game in Detroit on Sunday will be a real test of their credentials.
Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers slipped to second. Brady had picked them to go 7-0 against the Atlanta Falcons, but they lost 29-20 as Brady says he jinxed them. This weekend the team has a bye, which the legendary quarterback says comes at a good time as the team's injuries mount up.
Week 7 in the NFL delivered its fair share of drama as the Falcons handed the 49ers their first defeat. The Seahawks made a statement against the Chiefs, winning 20-3, while the Bengals shocked the Ravens 35-13.
The Cowboys strengthened their NFC East ambitions with a 38-21 win over the Eagles, and the Lions edged out the Green Bay Packers.
Brady proposed a rule change that would see the AFC North teams play a yearly round-robin for a slot in the division round.
“I spent an hour. Yeah, an hour. Trying to figure out the AFC North, and I can’t do it. All right, they’re probably 11 through 14 in my rankings, and they all have probably an argument to be at number 7 at any given time.
"Here’s what I propose: let’s put the AFC North in an 18-week round-robin every single year, and the winner of it slots into the division round. You guys cool with that?”
The NFL heads into another blockbuster weekend with the league’s last unbeaten team, the Minnesota Vikings, facing the aforementioned trip to Detroit to face the Lions. The Bills host the Ravens, the Chiefs travel to the Broncos, and the Browns face off against the Steelers, with both teams level at 5-2 and chasing that most-sought-after AFC North crown, and a supercomputer has predicted every Week 8 result.
