‘Fascinating Human Being,’ ‘I Can’t Figure This Guy Out’ — NFL Fans React as Aaron Rodgers Calls For Better Pay For U.S. Women’s Flag Football Team

Aaron Rodgers has often made headlines for sharing his unfiltered takes on issues beyond football. Rodgers is known for speaking his mind rather than holding back, having never shied away from weighing in on a wide range of topics.

Rodgers has once again drawn attention for an off-field take, speaking on the compensation of the U.S. women’s national flag football team. As he raised concerns about whether female athletes representing the country are receiving adequate financial support for their contributions, fans had plenty to say.

NFL Fans React to Aaron Rodgers’ Latest Take on Women’s Flag Football

Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are set to take on the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in Paris, France. However, he also drew attention Friday for speaking about the compensation received by members of the U.S. women’s national flag football team.

When asked about the growing popularity of flag football, Rodgers expressed enthusiasm for the sport and its potential to expand football’s global reach. He said that various developments have contributed to the sport’s international popularity, though he felt some had fallen short of the highest moral standards.

Rodgers later spoke on the financial challenges faced by members of the U.S. Women’s National Flag Football Team, many of whom must balance their athletic commitments with full-time jobs.

“I’ve gotten to know some of the members of the U.S. women’s flag football national team. Phenomenal women, most of them have full-time jobs,” Rodgers said. “The pay is very scant, shall we say, and not equal. Not a big fan of that.

“Olympic athletes in general, it’s a hard run, you know, for them because most of them have full-time jobs and you’re trying to prepare and you have 4 years and 1 trial to make it to the Olympics. I think that there should be some better pay for some of these individuals, especially the U.S. Women’s National Flag Football Team.”

Several in the NFL community reacted quickly to the discussion.

“I can’t figure this guy out to save my life,” Media personality Willie Lutz wrote.

Podcaster Reeta Hubbard, also known as BMORE Reeta, shared a hilarious response to Rodgers’ pointed take with the text: “Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Just Made A Great Point”

Rodgers’ comments also align with his previous efforts to financially support women’s flag football. He previously made a significant philanthropic contribution to USA Football to support the U.S. women’s national flag football team as the sport prepares for its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

The contribution came through Rodgers’ participation in the fifth annual RX3 Charity Flag Football Tournament, hosted by the RX3 Foundation. As a co-founder of RX3 Growth Partners, he helped bring together NFL players, business leaders, and partners to raise money for charitable initiatives.

While the contribution proved Rodgers’ interest in helping the women’s game grow and providing greater opportunities for female athletes, some fans kept praising him for his latest comments.

“He is a fascinating human being,” Five Stripe Final’s managing editor Rob Usry wrote.

“Quite possibly the single hardest person to nail down politically that we’ve ever seen. Genuinely no clue what the next take is,” one said.

“He’s slowly winning me back but idk (I don’t know),” a fan wrote.

Rodgers’ call for better pay may bring more attention to the financial challenges facing the U.S. Women’s National Flag Football Team.
