Xabi Alonso’s side have earmarked addressing the central midfield position as their priority goal for the upcoming transfer window and widespread reports confirm they are set to test Bournemouth’s resolve with an official bid for Scott.
The Blues failed with multiple offers over the summer, but Bournemouth have reportedly relaxed their stance on a sale following talks with Scott’s representatives and it’s understood that a transfer could be on the cards if a €120 million proposal is lodged.
While Scott is Chelsea’s primary target for January, the club are continuing to assess alternative targets and Blues reporter Simon Phillips claims that Lewis-Skelly, King, Armstrong and Miley, who have a combined Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €131.6 million, are all being closely tracked by the club.
All four players have previously been linked with a Stamford Bridge switch, and the west London giants have reportedly sent scouts to watch them in action as they ponder possible approaches in 2027.
Lewis-Skelly, in particular, has been on Chelsea’s radar for several months, although Arsenal are increasingly unlikely to sanction a sale as the England star has re-established himself as a vital player under Mikel Arteta during the early months of the new campaign.
King, Armstrong and Miley, meanwhile, are all England U21 internationals and they have caught the eye for Fulham, Everton and Newcastle United respectively so far this season.
King has also been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, amid Florian Wirtz’s unconvincing form, while Nottingham Forest made a late bid for Armstrong over the summer, which was quickly rebuffed by Everton. Miley, on the other hand, was on Manchester United’s radar ahead of the summer window, although a formal approach never materialised.
While Chelsea may be fairly active in regards to incomings in January, with Scott currently their top target, they are highly unlikely to sanction any permanent exits during the winter window.
Jamie Gittens is perhaps the most likely star to depart, after his proposed move to AS Roma collapsed over the summer, while loan offers may potentially be considered for Aaron Anselmino, who has been sidelined through injury since pre-season.
Estevao Willian, however, will not be permitted to depart Stamford Bridge, despite rumours suggesting that he has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs.
