Celtic head to Falkirk needing a return to winning ways, but picking the front three is far from straightforward for Martin O’Neill.
Wednesday’s draw with Dundee United brought more frustration, and Sunday’s opponents are unlikely to make the response easy. Falkirk have won three consecutive Premiership matches and approach this fixture with confidence.
Celtic’s last visit should serve as enough warning. On a January night earlier this year, Benjamin Nygren’s header from an Arne Engels corner secured a narrow 1-0 victory. It was an uncomfortable evening, with Celtic doing enough to escape with the points rather than taking control.

A more convincing performance would be welcome this time. Whether O’Neill changes the personnel to find one is another question.
Sam Johnstone looks likely to keep his place in goal. Ahead of him, we expect Colby Donovan, Dane Murray, Liam Scales and Kieran Tierney to continue.
Cameron Carter-Vickers is available again, but the artificial surface gives O’Neill another consideration as he manages the defender’s return. Keeping Murray and Scales together would be the unsurprising decision.
Callum McGregor and Mika Baur should retain their midfield places, with Nygren operating ahead of them. The real debate starts further forward.
Kasper Høgh has not scored since his hat-trick against Kilmarnock in August. His latest appearance ended at half-time against Dundee United, extending a difficult run for the striker.
Yet watching some of the deliveries Celtic produced after the break, you could reasonably have wished he was still on the pitch.
Jota and Haissem Hassan offered more natural width, and Jota supplied the cross for Scales’ equaliser. Those are the situations in which you would expect Høgh to have a better chance of making an impact.
He still needs to do more himself. But asking two centre-forwards to provide his service from the wings does not look like the best way to get him scoring.
The difficulty is that Camilo Durán has been Celtic’s most reliable attacking threat. Dropping him would be a huge call, while moving him to the left to accommodate Hassan on the right would mean another adjustment for a player already delivering goals.
Callum Osmand’s place is perhaps more open to debate, although the alternatives come with questions of their own.
Jota would offer the creativity supporters want, but O’Neill has specifically flagged the surface as something he will consider while the winger builds his fitness. We do not expect his first start back to come here.
Sebastian Tounekti trained on Friday, but having missed the last two league squads, an immediate return to the starting line-up would be a surprise.
That leaves us predicting the same front three, even with the concerns about how they fit together.
Predicted Celtic XI: Johnstone; Donovan, Murray, Scales, Tierney; McGregor, Baur; Durán, Nygren, Osmand; Høgh.
Hassan has a strong argument for inclusion. If O’Neill sticks with this side, Celtic need to find a way to give Høgh better service before the substitutions arrive.
