Stipe Miocic Names His UFC Mount Rushmore - Snubs Khabib [Exclusive]

Oct 31, 2026, 1:00 PM GMT

After deciding late that he wanted a career in sports journalism, Daniel worked his way up the ladder in an unconventional manner.

Having opted against university, Daniel worked with Sky Sports as a freelance contributor and translator during transfer windows while also volunteering on several other blog pages and outlets to get a portfolio of content together.

Daniel then worked with Barnet FC as part of their social media team before starting his own website, which focused on football and MMA content.

That eventually led to work with 90min and Reach PLC with The Mirror, Daily Record, Daily Express, and Manchester Evening News.

Following that, Daniel spent two-and-a-half years with Breaking Media covering Everton, Rangers, Leeds, West Ham and other clubs before joining GiveMeSport as a Premier League editor.

As well as football, Daniel is a huge MMA fan and has appeared on YouTube and podcast content too.

Stipe Miocic has named his Mount Rushmore of UFC fighters while speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, and there was no room for Conor McGregor or Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Miocic is considered to be the greatest heavyweight of all time after winning the undisputed championship twice during his career, where he defended the belt a total of four times, and is still the only man to ever defend the title three times consecutively in a single reign.

The American ended his career in November 2024 after suffering a knockout defeat to Jon Jones in his bid to claim a third undisputed championship reign, which came two years after he lost the belt to Francis Ngannou via violent knockout.

Despite those losses, many still consider Miocic to be among the greatest fighters in UFC history. But it's rare that anyone would place him in their Mount Rushmore of athletes to have competed, despite his many accomplishments.

Mount Rushmore is the four founding fathers of America who have been etched into the side of a mountain in the United States, and it's often used as a metaphor for the four best people to have participated in a sport or any activity.

The Mount Rushmore of the UFC is often something that is spoken about at length because of the different weight classes and eras that have happened over the years, and it's always interesting to find out who the fighters themselves believe is in the conversation.

While speaking to GIVEMESPORT, via Casino.org, Miocic was asked to name his Mount Rushmore of UFC fighters, but he couldn't narrow it down to just four and instead gave us five names.

“I’d go with Mirko Cro Cop, George St - Pierre, Demetrious Johnson, Renzo Gracie, and probably Jon Jones.

“With Gracie, he's an OG, he's a legend. He's the one that got the sport started.

"GSP, just look at what he did, man, he was an absolute maniac. Jones is one of the best of all time.

"Mighty Mouse, well that guy was just a freak. Just look at how many belts he won in a row and the things he could do.

"And then, Cro Cop. That's my dude, man. All I'll say is right kick hospital, left kick cemetery. He was absolutely savage yet such a sweet guy. He's awesome. I love that dude.”

That means there's no room for undefeated former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, the first simultaneous two-weight world champion Conor McGregor, or ex-middleweight Anderson Silva, who until recently held the record for the most consecutive wins in the UFC at 16.
