The Boston Celtics are on a five-game winning streak, but all of those wins were earned against teams with losing records. It's still early in the season, so one or two of the aforementioned opponents should finish above .500. But, for now, Boston hasn't faced a top seed. That will change on Monday night, as the 5-1 Celtics take on the 6-1 Houston Rockets in Texas.
It'll be a tough task for the C's, who just played on Sunday night in Florida, securing a 108-97 road win over the undermanned Orlando Magic. However, the Celtics are already 1-0 on the second night of a back-to-back this season and have typically played well with limited rest under head coach Joe Mazzulla. As for the Rockets, they last played on Friday evening at the Toyota Center, where they crushed the Oklahoma City Thunder, 119-98. No injury report is out yet for the Celtics, yet they should expect a challenging game no matter who is active.
Following a frustrating loss in the regular-season opener versus the Detroit Pistons, the Celtics have won five games in a row. That matches their longest winning streak from last season, and they currently find themselves in third place in the Eastern Conference at 5-1.
Meanwhile, the Rockets are coming off a double-digit win against the Thunder and sit in second place in the Western Conference at 6-1.
The Celtics haven't posted an injury report yet. But, it's worth noting that guard Devin Carter has missed every game this season due to illness (mononucleosis). Center Mitchell Robinson was sidelined for the Celtics' most recent outing due to rest, but perhaps he returns for the second leg of the back-to-back set of games.
The Rockets have multiple injuries to report. Steven Adams (right soleus strain) is out while Clint Capela (right ankle sprain) and Reed Sheppard (low back strain) are questionable.
