Ezekiel Williams died of head injury as murder investigation continues

He was taken to hospital where he died on Monday, November 2.

Following his death, many football clubs who the midfielder played for paid tribute, which included Marlow FC.

He spent two months with the Blues in the 2025/26.

Several hours after his death was confirmed, Thames Valley Police opened a murder investigation.

Two men from Luton, 21 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of murder while a 30-year-old man, also from Luton, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released on conditional court bail.

It has now been revealed via a Home Office postmortem examination, which took place on Thursday, November 5, that Mr Willliams died from head injury.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Rob Underhill, from the Major Crime Unit, said: “We are continuing to support the family of Ezekiel, and our thoughts remain with them, and all of Ezekiels close circle of friends.

“It is clear from tributes that have been paid that he was a hugely respected and loved person, and we are determined to ascertain the circumstances around his death.

“We have made three arrests in connection with this investigation.

“A 21-year-old and a 28-year-old man, both from Luton, were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

“A 30-year-old man, also from Luton, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released on conditional court bail.

“I am today appealing again for any witnesses who may not yet have spoken to police to please get in touch with us.

“We have been reviewing CCTV and evidential material from the incident but are keen to speak to anybody who witnessed the incident, which occurred shortly before 2am on Sunday morning.

“Did you witness any altercation, particularly around the area of The Hub in Midsummer Boulevard. Did you capture anything on mobile phones or dashcam?

“If so, and you have not contacted us, I would urge you to please do so.

“You can report via our website or by calling 101, quoting reference 43260570882 or alternatively, via the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The Hub in Milton Keynes, where the incident occurred, also released a statement.

They said: “We are deeply saddened to learn that Ezekiel Williams, 26-year-old from London, has tragically passed away in hospital following a serious assault in the early hours of Sunday.

“First and foremost, our heartfelt thoughts and deepest condolences are with Ezekiel’s family, friends, and loved ones at this devastating time. We cannot begin to imagine their pain.

“As tributes are shared, it is clear he was a well-loved young man with a bright future ahead of him. His passing leaves a huge hole in the lives of everyone who knew him.

“The Hub is a central part of our community. We are liaising closely with the police, local authorities, and our partners during this time.

“A murder investigation is underway by the Major Crime Unit.

“We urge anyone who was in the area of Midsummer Boulevard and The Hub between 1am and 2am on Sunday—or anyone with mobile phone, dash-cam, or CCTV footage—to contact Thames Valley Police on 101 (quoting reference 43260570882) or anonymously via Crimestoppers.”
