Barrow boss says 'we have no defenders' after injuries

The Bluebirds return to the Furness Building Society Stadium on October 31 in the hope of continuing a six-game winning run in the league.

But chances of it being plain sailing on the day have taken a hit thanks to a recent spate of knocks picked up by players.

"We've got no defenders so we're having to wait on a few last-minute decisions to see where people are," Murray told The Mail.

"But it's not looking good and, at this rate, we might just have to play wingers and attackers everywhere."

Yet, with belief amongst the team higher than ever, Murray knows that his players will give everything to win, no matter what position they are asked to take up.

"We've got players who can fill holes, even if that's obviously not ideal," he added.

"We've built a squad who are comfortable playing in three or four different positions because we know that any team is going to face injuries at some point in a season, that's just a part of football."

Eastleigh currently sit 17th in the table, six points behind their Cumbrian hosts, and have proven to be an inconsistent side up to this point.

But Murray refused to underestimate the challenge coming this Saturday, knowing that Barrow will have to improve on a disappointing first-half showing against Halifax Town last Tuesday, despite a late and remarkable comeback.

"It's going to be a difficult game because they're very organised and hard to break down, whilst still having a number of different attacking threats.

"We'd love to win every game but we know it's tougher than that. We have to learn that, if we can't be at full throttle, then we need to find a way to win and if that's not possible, make sure we don't lose.

"We've seen what works now this season and it's down to us to keep replicating that."
