Tottenham insider brings up West Ham sporting director Mark Noble having a ‘really good chat’ with Spurs youngster

West Ham United sporting director Mark Noble was spotted sharing a friendly exchange with former Hammer Elisha Sowunmi following his cross-town transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham

Any lingering animosity between North and East London appeared entirely absent recently when West Ham United sporting director Mark Noble was spotted engaging in warm conversation with young winger Elisha Sowunmi after his move to Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Spurs youth expert John Wenham, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Noble crossed paths with the 19-year-old prospect during an Under-18 fixture between the two clubs. Despite Sowunmi opting to depart the Hammers last January, ending a long association with West Ham that began at the under-eight level, the reunion between the executive and the teenager was completely amicable.

“Something that I found quite interesting, so Elisha Sowunmi who signed from West Ham last season, he came over and shook Mark Noble’s hand and they had a really good chat. There isn’t any sort of hard feelings there about him deciding to not stay on at West Ham and instead move to Tottenham.”

Assessing Sowunmi’s Progress in North London

Since making the switch across the capital for an undisclosed fee, Sowunmi has been integrating into Tottenham’s youth structure. Operating primarily on the right flank, the young forward has recorded one goal and one assist across 16 appearances for the Lilywhites’ Under-21 side.

While facing West Ham recently provided a unique test against his former academy peers, the positive interaction with Noble highlights that the teenager left the Irons on good terms.

Breaking into Roberto De Zerbi’s senior squad remains a significant challenge for the academy graduate. Sowunmi faces fierce competition for a spot on the right wing, contending with established top-tier names like Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Wilson Odobert, and Savio.

Because of the immense depth currently at De Zerbi’s disposal, a senior breakthrough is not anticipated immediately. Instead, the club is prioritizing patient development within the academy system, allowing Sowunmi to hone his craft and build toward future first-team consideration in North London.
