FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono has shut down his Instagram account after the death of Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Owono was shown a red card after he collided with De Miguel near midfield during a La Liga 2 match on Monday, Nov. 2. The striker suffered cardiac arrest and was immediately transported to the hospital after the collision, with the match abandoned.
De Miguel's neurological condition deteriorated on Tuesday morning and he ultimately died at the age of 30.
Owono, 25, has shut down his Instagram account, while his X account has been inactive for two years.
According to multiple reports from the scene, some fans chanted “murderer, murderer" at Owono while De Miguel was receiving emergency medical treatment at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López.
After Monday's game, Iván Álvarez reported on Cadena COPE that Owono was devastated and was seen crying and praying in the locker room.
According to Álvarez, Owono planned to wait until Tuesday morning before contacting De Miguel's family privately.
In a statement, FC Andorra said: "With heavy hearts and devastated, we would like to send our most sincere condolences to the family of Jesús de Miguel, to all his colleagues and friends, and to CD Tenerife."
Owono was born in Equatorial Guinea and moved to Spain as a child. He made his senior club debut in 2019 with San Ignacio in Spain's third division.
He would later move on to Alavés, where he made his La Liga debut in 2022.
In July 2025, Owono signed with FC Andorra on loan from Alavés. After a successful loan spell, he signed for Andorra on a permanent basis ahead of the current season.
Owono made his senior international debut for Equatorial Guinea in 2019, quickly establishing himself as his country's starter.
He's earned more than 40 caps and was the starter at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021 and 2023.
