Former Tonbridge Angels boss Steve McKimm is back in management.
McKimm has taken charge of National League South basement boys Slough Town, replacing former Gillingham keeper Alan Julian after he was dismissed last month.
The 51-year-old arrives alongside long-time No.2 Barry Moore while Mark Watson has joined as Slough first-team coach.
“I’m very happy to be here as the manager of Slough Town FC,” McKimm told the Rebels' website following his appointment on Wednesday.
“We’re not in the best position at the moment but, with the hard work from staff, the players and the backing of the fantastic support-base the club has, we're determined to turn it around.”
McKimm began his managerial career at Tonbridge in 2014, spending eight years in charge and guiding the club to promotion to National League South in 2019.
During his time at the club, he also led Angels to the FA Cup first round and the FA Trophy fifth round.
Subsequently, McKimm managed Carshalton before taking charge of Cray Valley in 2023.
His first season with the Millers proved particularly successful as he guided them to the Isthmian South East title with 95 points, losing just one league match. Cray Valley enjoyed a memorable FA Cup run, too, securing a 1-1 draw at League 1 Charlton Athletic before they narrowly lost the replay.
McKimm led Cray Valley to a fourth-placed finish and a place in the Isthmian Premier play-offs in 2024/25 before departing the club earlier this year.
Chief executive Ashley Smith said: “I’m delighted to welcome Steve as our new men’s first-team manager, alongside Barry and Mark.
“Throughout this process, Steve showed total professionalism and a real passion for the challenge ahead.
“My sincere thanks to Johnny (Goddard), Ryan (Case) and Henry (Ochieng) for leading the squad so brilliantly in recent weeks. Their efforts have, undeniably, strengthened the group.
“I know the Rebels will bring the noise on Saturday against Dorking Wanderers to start this new era together.”
Slough, who have taken a mere four points from 12 league fixtures and are on a five-game winless streak, start McKimm’s tenure at home to Dorking Wanderers this weekend.
McKimm will come up against old club Tonbridge on Saturday, November 28, before he makes a Longmead return on Saturday, April 24, to conclude the campaign.
