Dalton Smith is the headliner of Saturday's Matchroom Boxing card.
British boxer Dalton Smith will defend his world title this weekend in front of a home crowd in Sheffield. The WBC super lightweight champion will face Dominican Alberto Puello as the headline of a stacked Matchroom Boxing card, with the whole event available to stream here.
It will mark Smith’s first title defence and the first fight in his home town since being crowned world champion. The Steel City fighter claimed his crown in January, when he stunned Subriel Matias with a fifth-round knockout in Brooklyn, New York.
He is enjoying a stellar unbeaten run of 19-0 (14 KOs) but will face a tough test in Puello (25-1, 11 KOs), who previously held the belt from 2024 to 2025. The pair were due to fight in May but Smith was forced to postpone after suffering an injury during training.
They will now go toe-to-toe at Sheffield’s 12,500-capacity Utilita Arena. Ahead of the fight, Matchroom sat down with Smith and asked his thoughts on his next opponent.
“It’s a tough fight,” he said. “He’s a two-time world champion.”
“He has an awkward style, but I do well against southpaws”
Here are all the key details fans need to know about Smith vs Puello, including how to watch the fight live.
