The Baltimore Ravens aren’t ready to give up on their season just yet. After missing the playoffs last year, they made a major change at head coach, bringing in Jesse Minter to replace John Harbaugh. However, injuries to Lamar Jackson have derailed their plans once again.

That has led to speculation about whether the Ravens could make a trade to address their quarterback situation. Several names have come up as potential targets, but one suggestion from Dan Orlovsky was met with a resounding no from much of the fan base.

Dan Orlovsky’s Suggestion for Lamar Jackson Replacement Doesn’t Sit Well With Ravens Fans

Jackson was playing at a high level when healthy and helped the Ravens get off to a 3-1 start. But without him, the team dropped to 4-3. Jackson returned in Week 8, only for his comeback to last just one offensive snap.

The Ravens have since fallen to 4-4, with a brutal stretch of the schedule still ahead. However, the team isn’t ready to throw in the towel.

As potential replacements at quarterback continue to come up, Orlovsky added another name to the conversation.

“If you’re the Ravens, why would you not call Indy about Anthony Richardson?” the ESPN analyst tweeted.

The Indianapolis Colts selected Richardson fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. One of the biggest concerns surrounding him coming out of Florida was his limited experience as a starter. After two inconsistent, injury-plagued seasons, Richardson lost the starting job to Daniel Jones in 2025 and later requested a trade.

Richardson played 11 games in 2024 and ranked No. 33 among quarterbacks with a PFN QB Impact Score of 69.1. He has tallied 21 touchdowns and 17 turnovers in his NFL career, which helps explain why Ravens fans aren’t convinced he’s the answer in Baltimore.

“Have you seen him play football?”Samuel Njoku asked in response to Orlovsky’s suggestion.

A second fan had a similar reaction, joking, “Well, probably because they have seen him play. That’s why.”

Another fan wasn’t having it, directly addressing Orlovsky with a blunt response: “Mind your business.”

The jokes kept coming, as two-time Super Bowl champion Booger McFarland responded to Orlovsky’s question, writing: “Cause he can’t play dead in a western.”

“Dude wasn’t even a good QB in college. He can’t play,” another fan piled on.

Not everyone was against the idea, though. Richardson’s combination of size and athleticism makes him a genuine dual-threat quarterback, and some believe he hasn’t had a fair chance to establish himself in the NFL.

With several quarterbacks enjoying career revivals in recent years, one fan was open to the possibility of Richardson doing the same. One popular Ravens fan account responded to Orlovsky’s suggestion with a simple “Agreed.”

Baltimore has yet to announce a trade for a quarterback or identify a definitive Week 9 starter. With Jackson headed to injured reserve and Tyler Huntley battling a toe injury, the Ravens face a pressing decision ahead of Thursday’s matchup against Jacksonville.
