Kip Piper, owner of Superlekka, with Creative Director Zesty in new games venue in the Baltic Triangle
A new £2m investment is weeks away from opening in Liverpool. Superlekka, a competitive socialising concept designed for the "armchair Olympian", is coming to the Baltic Triangle later this month.
The initiative immerses players in a retro sports stadium setting with a series of interactive games, creating a “Game Show Olympics”. Superlekka is the brainchild of Kip Piper, former creative director and co-founder of Golf Fang. Kip's latest venture is backed by a £2m investment and co-funded with Daniel Gillbanks and David Scowcroft, the founders of PINS Social Club.
The new venue will also create 30 jobs in the local area, and upon its launch, it will be for over-18-year-olds only. However, come Christmas, this will change with the introduction of ‘Superlekka Juniors.’ Ahead of the opening, the ECHO caught up with Kip and his partner and creative director, Zesty Parker, who both live in Aigburth, to find out more about the major investment.
Dad-of-one Kip, 43, told the ECHO: “We've been planning this for over a year and have been on site for around six months. It actually all started in our back garden, in the garage, about a year and a half ago. That's where the initial ideas and planning began.
"To see it all come to life is Incredible. It's like seeing something that has been living on our garage walls, through mood boards and ideas, finally become a reality.
"We've invested over £2m in the project, and Liverpool was always the place we wanted to do it. We're both from here, our whole team is from here, and we absolutely love the Baltic Triangle in particular.
"There's so much happening in Liverpool at the moment. You only have to pick up a newspaper to see how much is going on in the city. People here have a great sense of humour, and that's exactly what Superlekka is about.
Inside Superlekka, the new games venue in the Baltic Triangle
"It's about championing the underdog, having a good time and enjoying a bit of friendly trash talk with your mates. Liverpool felt like the perfect place for that."
Located in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, the venue will be transformed into a highly stylised retro stadium. Players will be able to test their luck at game-show-inspired events, from giant beer pong to quiz-show podiums and a frantic 'Supermarket Sweep'-style challenge.
The venue is complete with a cocktail menu, an extensive beer selection, dedicated guest car parking and a partnership with West Coast Coffee.

Dedicated family tickets will allow players aged 13 and over to take part during selected daytime sessions. The venue will operate on a day-to-night model, welcoming families during the day before switching back to an adults-only venue in the evenings.
Zesty, 37, added: “It's been a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week project. We've never taken on something like this while raising a toddler, so that's been another thing we've had to factor in.
But because we live together and work together, we're always able to come home and talk things through. The project is constantly on our minds, and I think that shared passion has really helped shape what Superlekka become.
The team at Superlekka confirmed it would be opening in November 19
"Even when we try to switch off in the evenings and watch television, we're still thinking about the project. We'll pause something because we love the colours on screen, take a photograph and use it for inspiration.
"We're always looking for ideas because we genuinely love what we do. The whole ethos is that you don't have to be particularly sporty, you don't have to be fit, and you certainly don't have to be good at traditional sports. There isn't actually any sport involved.
"It's more like Takeshi's Castle meets Squid Game, with a series of game-show-style challenges that everyone can get involved in.
"This is your time to shine. You might never get the chance to compete in a real stadium, but here, you're the star of the show. The games are designed for different abilities and skill sets, so there's something everyone can enjoy."
