Barcelona climbed to second after halting Aston Villa’s 100 per cent start and Harry Kane missed out on equalling Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of scoring in 11 consecutive Champions League matches in Bayern Munich’s 2-0 win at Atletico Madrid.
There was also a stunning fightback at Old Trafford, where Manchester United rallied from 2-0 down to beat Roma 3-2 to snap a nine-game winless run in all competitions.

PSG delivered another statement win in as Fabian Ruiz struck twice in Spain as Villarreal were the latest side to be put to the sword.
Luis Enrique’s side, who made it 10 straight wins, were 4-0 up inside 17 minutes, with Joao Neves, Desire Doue, Senny Mayulu and Ruiz all on target.
Ruiz put PSG 5-0 up early in the second half and substitute David Boly completed the scoring in the 78th minute.

Lamine Yamal gave Barca an early lead and after Villa’s Matty Cash, Victor Lindelof and Johan Manzambi all spurned scoring chances, Raphinha’s second-half double sealed his side’s third win in four Champions League games.
England skipper Kane, appearing in his first European tie since winning the Ballon d’Or, had scored in his previous 10 Champions League appearances, but drew a rare blank as second-half goals from teenager Lennart Karl and Konrad Laimer sealed victory in Madrid.
Manchester United’s downward spiral this season has left head coach Michael Carrick’s future in doubt and it looked bleak for him and his side after Matias Soule and Donyell Malan’s penalty left them 2-0 down at half-time.
But United captain Bruno Fernandes held his nerve to convert a twice-taken penalty and after Bryan Mbeumo’s shot had hit both posts, Matheus Cunha fired a double before he was sent off in time added on.
Inter Milan triumphed 3-0 at Feyenoord and there were also wins for Galatasaray, Sporting and LASK, while Bodo/Glimt and Lille drew 0-0.
