Manuel Neuer has declared himself fit to play ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League clash with Arsenal, with the experienced goalkeeper eager to return to action after a recent injury setback.

The Bayern captain acknowledged that minor injuries can take time to disappear completely but is confident he is ready to face the Premier League leaders.

“Jonas Urbig allows all of us to keep a cool head. He is a superb goalkeeper. But, of course, as a goalkeeper, you always want to be between the posts. I also wanted to return to the goal as quickly as possible. These minor injuries are never 100% gone, but I am fit to play again, and I’m looking forward to it,” Neuer said.

The 40-year-old will also reach a significant milestone if he features against Arsenal, bringing his Champions League appearance tally to 163. That would see him draw level with former Bayern teammate Thomas Müller and Lionel Messi.

“163 Champions League appearances – it’s a great feeling to draw level with Thomas Müller and Lionel Messi today. But today is all about Arsenal. We want to win the game as a team, and impressive numbers like these don’t count for anything in that regard,” Neuer explained.

The goalkeeper also expects a difficult encounter against an Arsenal side he considers among the strongest teams in Europe. The Gunners' organisation and effectiveness from set pieces are particular concerns for Bayern ahead of the meeting at the Allianz Arena.

“Arsenal are excellent at set pieces and a great team overall. They won’t make things easy for us, and they are very well drilled. It’s going to be a great game,” Neuer added.

With both sides aiming to strengthen their position in the Champions League league phase, Bayern will need to be at their best against an Arsenal team renowned for its tactical discipline.
