The Colorado Buffaloes had enough offensive success to lead Oklahoma State 24-23 at halftime Saturday. The Buffaloes then went scoreless over the final two quarters of a 57-24 defeat, falling to 2-5.
Several individual performances deserve recognition, even as Colorado’s second-half mistakes made the final score lopsided. Here are five winners and losers from the Buffaloes’ fifth consecutive loss.
Williams caught eight passes for 130 yards, giving Wilson a productive downfield target. His 36- and 30-yard receptions on a second-quarter drive helped set up a touchdown.
Williams finished as Colorado’s leading receiver, continuing to produce for an offense still searching for consistency.
Moore finished with five catches for 106 yards and a touchdown. His 15-yard scoring reception on third-and-13 helped Colorado take a 14-7 first-quarter lead.
He also gained 45 yards on a possession that ended with Elliot Arnold’s field goal.
Wilson completed 14 of 16 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns before halftime, adding a rushing score. His accuracy gave Colorado opportunities to sustain drives and attack downfield.
“First half, Isaac played his butt off. He really did,” head coach Deion Sanders said afterward.
Oklahoma State finished with 598 yards. Drew Mestemaker threw for 386 yards and four touchdowns, repeatedly finding openings against Colorado’s coverage.
The Buffaloes needed stops once their offense stalled, and the Cowboys continued reaching scoring range.
Wilson fumbled on the opening snap after halftime and later threw two interceptions. Those giveaways helped Oklahoma State take control, and freshman Kaneal Sweetwyne eventually took over.
Colorado’s next assignment will be to find a way to have successful offensive possessions against Kansas State without another sequence of mistakes and penalties undoing early work.
