Arsenal’s team to face Liverpool today has been confirmed, with Mikel Arteta making nine changes to his side as he looks for an instant response to their shock defeat in midweek.
The defending Premier League champion has made its way to Anfield for what is the standout fixture this weekend. Liverpool will have the chance to narrow the gap to its rival to three points, and potentially emerge as a genuine title contender.
The Gunners though will be aiming to take full advantage of Manchester City’s slip-up against Brighton and move clear at the top of the table, underlining its status as the favorite to defend its crown.
Arsenal hasn’t had the best build-up to today’s game though, having been dumped out of the Carabao Cup during the week by League Two side Fleetwood. The penalty shootout defeat not only cost Arteta a shot at another piece of silverware, but also one of his key players.
Max Dowman’s red card means he misses out on today’s game, while Bukayo Saka remains out injured. Arteta though is not exactly short of high-quality options to turn to.
The Gunners boss makes nine changes following that defeat to Fleetwood, with the return of Declan Rice among the main headlines from his team at Anfield.
Riccardo Calafiori and Noni Madueke are also restored to the line-up after injury scares, while Christos Tzolis is back in the side after his recent lay-off.
Arsenal confirmed line-up vs Liverpool: Raya; Timber, Konsa, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Guimaraes; Madueke, Odegaard, Tzolis; Havertz.
Arteta is yet to claim a league win at Anfield, with Arsenal’s barren stretch at Liverpool’s ground actually going all the way back to 2012 - although the Gunners’ boss is confident that will change later.

"I'm fully convinced that we are going to go there on Sunday and win the game," Arteta told Sky Sports.
"I think it’s so clear what we have to do. I think we are very convinced with what has to be achieved in that game to give us the chance to win it."
He added: “Now’s the opportunity to change it. We’ve done it in many, many stadiums since I’ve been here that for many, many years we didn’t have any results and we have won many times. And the next one is Anfield."
