Tottenham Hotspur brought in ten new players during the window, of which three have been attackers.
Savio and Mykhailo Mudryk are currently injured, with the former suffering a muscle injury last week. Omar Marmoush broke his duck in the 3-1 win over Coventry City on Monday, and Roberto De Zerbi will hope now the Egyptian international gets confidence from his goal and kickstarts his career in N17.
Dominic Solanke has been struggling with form and fitness since last season, while Richarlison is out of De Zerbi’s project. Given their struggles in front of goal, Tottenham are looking to bring in a No.9 during the winter transfer window.
Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi was Spurs’ top striker target in the summer. Unfortunately, he suffered an ankle injury in pre-season and had to undergo surgery, ruling him out for more than three months.
The Frenchman is on the comeback trail and is expected to get minutes against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, a game the Tottenham chiefs will certainly have eyes on. Now, famous podcaster John Wenham has urged Spurs to start working on a deal for Eli Junior Kroupi in the background before the transfer window reopens. He thinks the 20-year-old would be open to joining De Zerbi’s side.
“The issue that has to be resolved in January is the striker situation,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“We were heavily linked with Kroupi in the summer, and reports said we were willing to pay £80m-100m on top of the other spending we did.
“I really hope that in the background, we are still progressing that deal, so on the 1st January, we can announce him as a Tottenham player.
“I appreciate the injury he’s had, but that should mean he isn’t in the shop window for other clubs.
“Kroupi would run to play for Tottenham, as he would for Arsenal, Chelsea or whoever else, if we were confident of getting him in the summer, we should be able to do it now.”
Kroupi was a revelation in English football last term, netting 13 times in 33 Premier League appearances. He caught the eye with his clinical finishing, pace, movement and link-up play. A host of clubs across England and Europe were keen on signing the Frenchman in the summer, but Bournemouth were in no mood to let him go.
The Cherries were demanding over £80m to scare off the young forward’s suitors in the summer, and they will be unlikely to let him leave mid-season. If Spurs are desperate to bring Kroupi in, our club bosses will have to pay a premium. For now, it looks like a difficult deal to crack.
